The scope of our work involved removing and replacing a 13' x 13' section of subfloor and joists in the living room. Per Kelly's request, we used 3/4" subflooring and upgraded to 2x8 joists, replacing the existing 2x6s to provide greater support and longevity.

To reinforce the load-bearing wall between the living room and bathroom, we also installed:

A 12-foot structural beam
3 SmartJacks for permanent stabilization
Proper cross bracing between joists to reduce bounce and increase floor strength

After a thorough inspection, we confirmed that the main beam and rim joist were still structurally sound. However, the ledger board was flagged for potential replacement due to visible wear and risk of failure.

For added protection and durability, the homeowners selected LumberKote for the entire crawlspace of the main house—an excellent alternative to full encapsulation that fits their budget while still offering robust moisture resistance.

In the basement, we installed a sump pump and a TrenchDrain system across the floor to redirect standing water. Although the homeowners opted out of a full-perimeter 2Stage waterproofing system to manage costs, our custom approach utilized the existing discharge line, channeling water through a small crawlspace and out to the north side of the home. The Solution: SmartJack™ XT & PolyLevel® for Comprehensive Foundation Support

Our team conducted a thorough assessment and designed a multi-part solution tailored to the unique foundation challenges of Ray’s home.

1. Rim Band Stabilization with SmartJack™ XT

To address the 1.5-inch floor drop above the garage, we recommended installing six SmartJack™ XT supports tied into a 10-foot supplemental beam. These were installed from inside the garage to minimize disruption. While lifting might not be feasible due to how the rim band connects to the foundation, stabilization will prevent further settlement.

2. Joist Support Under Master Suite

To further reinforce the structure, four additional SmartJack™ XTs and 40 feet of supplemental beam were proposed under the joists supporting the master bedroom and bathroom. These would be placed mid-span in the garage area—an important consideration as Ray weighs converting the garage into a finished room in the future.

3. Slab Lifting with PolyLevel®

The central slab had settled along nearly the entire length of the home. To restore support, we recommended PolyLevel® injection beneath the slab, which provides lift and stabilization without invasive demolition. Ray is considering lifting the carpet to allow for this process, especially as part of his larger renovation plans.

While some lifting may not be achievable due to existing structural connections, the SmartJack™ XT system ensures critical stabilization, protecting the home from further settlement. Memphis, TN – The Redeemers Group successfully completed their sixth annual Love Well 5k and festival on Saturday, June 25th. This year’s event raised funds and awareness for Serenity Recovery Centers of Memphis, TN.

The Love Well 5k is a family-friendly fun run/walk that takes place in the heart of Memphis. The route winds through the beautiful (and shaded!) Greenline and loops to finish back at the festival grounds, where the post-race party awaits participants and spectators alike. In addition to the 5k race, the festival features music, an awards ceremony, local vendors, and more!

All proceeds from the event will go to support Serenity Recovery Centers' mission of providing quality addiction treatment services to those in need. Thanks to everyone who participated or supported the festival by donating, raising awareness or cheering from the sidelines.
