Cracks in the Wall of this Osceola Home Fixed by Local Foundation Company
Challenge
This homeowner had noticed quite a few concerning signs within her home: cracks on her brick exterior and in her drywall inside the home. Foundation experts know that when you have cracks on the outside and inside of a home that mirror each other (in location, shape, and so on) it often indicates a serious issue with the foundation of the home.
Water collecting near the base of the walls had disrupted the soil the home had been constructed on. After years of the soil soaking up the rainwater that continued to pool and collect near the home, the soil shifted causing voids under the home which moved the base of the foundation, the footer. Solution
The fix for this type of foundation problem requires three different things: first is the piers to stabilize the home. The installation of piers is not only delicate and time-consuming, but also hard and rough work! Starting with the rough stuff: you must reach the footer of the home! In this case, we had to dig through the homeowner's concrete. Once we had an opening, we needed to place the piers and drive them into the earth until we reached over 1800 and up to 2200 psi (pounds per square inch!) We need to reach these levels to ensure the pier will hold up the home for years to come.
Then, we needed to return and take care of the holes that had formed beneath the foundation due to water soaking into the soil. We do this by injecting PolyLevel. PolyLevel is an expanding foam that can be used to hold up entire buildings, so it's the perfect way to fill holes beneath a failing foundation.
Finally, to keep holes, aka voids, from forming again in the future, this homeowner needed to have waterproofing solutions installed, to absorb the rainwater and move the water out and away from the home's foundation. That way new voids can't form in the future.
