2018 Love Well 5K & Festival date change due to flooding!

2018 Love Well 5K Festival date change due to flooding - Image 1

Race participants and supporters:

I do not take lightly having to announce that the 2018 Love Well 5K scheduled for March 3rd is being postponed due to the condition of The Greenway and the ongoing threat of flooding. The water has risen and receded for most of the past week. In speaking with the Wolf River Conservancy this morning, the expectation is that even if (and it may not) the water receded by 8:30 am on Saturday, the trail would be covered in silt and debris. While I would love nothing more than having the Love Well 5k go as planned, doing so on a course that is dangerous would not be consistent with loving our city well- with loving you all well. The better news is that Memphis Runners Track Club has offered June 23rd as a replacement date for the 2018 event. We are thankful that they had this availability and we scooped it up. The silver lining is that additional time can only mean great things for the type of event that can be provided for you all. The 2018 beneficiary, Serenity Recovery Center, is a jewel in our awesome city. I’m choosing to replace disappointment with excitement that additional time means more can be done to shine a spotlight on an epidemic that is plaguing our city and our country. I hope you will join me in that on June 23rd at 8:30 at the beautiful Greenway.

For those already registered for March 3rd, I am offering 2 choices (and I’m so thankful cancellation isn’t on the table!):
1- Your registration simply moves to the June 23rd date, and your way cool t-shirt will be waiting for you.
2- If June 23rd is a conflict for you, your registration can also be moved to the 2019 event.

All registrations will be automatically moved to the June date, so there’s nothing you need to do. If the June 23rd date is a conflict for you, please email me at [email protected], and we will transfer your registration to 2019.

I’m so thankful for an incredible participation of volunteers, and am hopeful the June 23rd date will work for you as well.
