Crawl Space Repair in Indianola, MS for Sagging Kitchen Floors
![]()
When a homeowner in Indianola, MS noticed soft flooring, gaps near the baseboards, and a visible drop between the kitchen and hallway, they contacted Redeemers Group for crawl space repair. Their concern was straightforward: something beneath the home no longer seemed to be supporting the floor properly.

The Homeowner’s Concern
The homeowner reported that the ground under the house was damp and that the kitchen floor had a soft area. They also noticed gaps between the floor and baseboards. Because the floors had been replaced before, there was concern that a beam, joist, or support under the home may have broken, settled, or weakened over time.
These are common warning signs homeowners may notice when crawl space moisture, humidity, or wood damage begins affecting the floor system above.
What Our Team Found
During the inspection, Redeemers Group found sagging floors in the kitchen area and signs of moisture beneath the home. The soil in the crawl space was significantly damp, and there was also debris under the house. These conditions can contribute to wood deterioration, especially when floor joists, beams, and subfloor materials are exposed to moisture over time.

The project was planned in phases, beginning with the kitchen floor system and nearby areas where the floor had dropped.
Crawl Space Repair Work Completed
For this phase of the project, the Redeemers Group team completed interior floor stabilization and crawl space repair work focused on the kitchen and walkway between the kitchen and hallway.
The team removed and replaced damaged kitchen joists and subfloor materials. They also worked on the uneven transition where the wall and floor area had dropped by about two inches, helping the kitchen and hallway match up more evenly.

Structural support was added with SmartJacks and supplemental beam support where needed to reinforce the overspanned area.

The team also reviewed the moisture issue with the homeowner and discussed future options such as wood protection and crawl space encapsulation once additional damaged wood is addressed.
Why This Repair Matters
Sagging floors and soft spots are more than cosmetic concerns. They can point to weakened structural materials beneath the home. When moisture and humidity remain in a crawl space, they can contribute to wood damage and reduce the strength of joists, beams, and subflooring.
Addressing the damaged floor system helps improve support where the home needs it now. Identifying the moisture issue also gives the homeowner a clearer path for future prevention, which may include crawl space encapsulation or other moisture control solutions.
Homeowner Benefit
After this phase of work, the homeowner had a more stable and more even floor transition between the kitchen and hallway. The repair also helped address damaged support materials in a key living area of the home.
Equally important, the homeowner now has a better understanding of the crawl space conditions contributing to the issue and the next steps that may help protect the home from future moisture-related damage.
