David H., a proud Marine Corps veteran from Melbourne, AR, reached out to us with a unique situation. He and his wife, known in their community for their compassion and generosity, run a cat sanctuary on their property, caring for over 40 foster cats. They also maintain a gymnasium behind their home where David trains local residents free of charge. With so many lives depending on the structural integrity of their home, the couple needed a long-term solution to stabilize their foundation and protect their crawl space.
Our team addressed the issue by installing eight SmartJacks™ in two key sections of the home—between the middle floor joists and the front beam-to-wall area—with four SmartJacks in each run. Due to the rocky ground conditions, we utilized soil footing plates to ensure maximum stability. This approach provided crucial support to the living area and was designed to benefit the second floor as well. Excess cinderblocks beneath the house were also removed to create a cleaner and more efficient space for installation.
To complete the project, we performed a full crawl space encapsulation using SilverGlo insulation around the perimeter. A Sedona dehumidifier with a condensate pump was installed in the center of the house, while a SmartSump system was placed in the north corner to manage moisture effectively. As an added upgrade, we installed a Second Wind air purification system in their HVAC unit, improving indoor air quality for both the family and their feline residents. The result was a safer, more stable, and healthier home environment.
