Photo Album: Groundwater Protection System Stops Water Intrusion at New Hope Christian School in Memphis, TN
Ken B., the Maintenance Facility Manager at New Hope Christian School in Memphis, TN, was dealing with ongoing water intrusion during heavy rains—impacting both a classroom on the southwest corner of the building and a conference room on the northeast side. In the NE area, water had eroded soil near a downspout, causing visible dips in the landscape and allowing moisture to enter the building. Another dip just beyond that point showed signs of pooling, though it hadn’t yet caused interior damage. On the SW side, the situation was more urgent, with water entering an active classroom—prompting Ken to seek a long-term, budget-friendly solution he could confidently recommend to the school.
To address these concerns, we installed our Groundwater Protection System, a proven drainage solution designed to intercept and redirect water away from the building foundation. On the southwest side—where intrusion into the classroom was occurring—we placed a SuperSump® system just north of the downspout, 28 feet from the corner. This sump pump setup, coupled with an extended discharge line running through or beneath the sidewalk and out to the curb via a curb cut, ensures efficient and discreet water evacuation. On the northeast side, we stabilized the problem areas with additional ground covering and protection. One section, totaling 21 feet near a downspout, was included as a preventative measure and offered as an optional budget item for future consideration.
Ken, already familiar with the performance of our products, expressed strong confidence in the proposed solution and committed to moving the project forward with school leadership. With our Groundwater Protection System now in place, the affected areas of the school are better protected from the damaging effects of water intrusion.
