Concrete Repair Photo Album: Pool Deck Revamp in Atoka, TN: Lifting, Sealing, and Preventing Future Damage
Chris G. of Atoka, TN has proudly lived in his home for over a decade, and his latest goal was to preserve his aging pool deck before it required full replacement. Over time, several areas around the pool had settled, while others showed signs of wear and water intrusion. Rather than wait for bigger problems to arise, Chris took a proactive approach to maintain the value and safety of his outdoor space. He reached out to address the uneven concrete, deteriorating joints, and ineffective drainage system around the pool.
Our team tackled the project with a multi-faceted repair strategy. We used PolyLevel® to lift sunken slabs and perform void fill beneath a walkway area that had experienced washout, helping to stabilize the soil and prevent further movement. In addition, we removed plastic joints and deteriorated caulking, replacing them with NexusPro® to ensure long-lasting, waterproof seals. A non-functional 2-inch drain acting as a makeshift control joint was also removed; we installed a backer rod and sealed the area with NexusPro for a cleaner, more effective finish. A smooth, rebar-reinforced section of concrete that Chris had poured previously was left untouched, as it was structurally sound and of a different surface type.
While some areas—particularly near the rebar-reinforced pad—could not be lifted from both sides, we were able to achieve meaningful correction and stabilization across the majority of the deck. Chris was excited to complete this essential repair, which lays the groundwork for his next steps: replacing the pool liner and applying a colored sealant for a refreshed look.
