Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Mold Removal and Floor Stabilization in Tupelo, MS
Lauren B. of Tupelo, MS, and her husband had lived in their split-level home for five years when a mold inspection by Terminix revealed a growing issue beneath their floors. Already concerned about potential moisture-related health risks, their worries intensified after hearing from a neighbor who had recently completed a crawl space encapsulation. In addition to wanting the mold gone for good, they had mild but growing concerns about the long-term stability of their floors — particularly in the crawl space portion of their home.
Upon inspection, we found that the main beam, supported by three piers, had a metal pier that was not even making contact — leaving part of the structure without proper support. To address this, we installed two SmartJack® support jacks, one on either side of the failing pier, and added a third standalone SmartJack beneath a slightly uneven pocket door frame. We also recommended two full runs of SmartJacks between the main beam and foundation walls for comprehensive stability. To permanently solve the mold and moisture issue, we completed a full crawl space encapsulation, installing a vapor barrier system and a high-performance sump pump at the front corner of the home, with discharge routed safely into the side yard.
This complete encapsulation and structural support solution not only eliminated the moisture source feeding the mold but also reinforced the home's foundation in key load-bearing areas. With ample crawl space headroom and no obstacles, the project was completed efficiently, giving Lauren and her family peace of mind that their home is now both dry and structurally sound.
