Foundation Repair Photo Album: Slab Foundation Stabilized with Push Piers and PolyLevel in Hollandale, MS
Donald S. of Hollandale, MS reached out for help stabilizing the foundation of his home—an inherited property that he and his wife, Kaitlyn, planned to remodel. Since moving in back in 2017, they had noticed signs of foundation settlement, which had worsened significantly over the past year. A new crack had formed through the slab in the living room, and a large diagonal crack now stretched from the west to the east along the north end of the home. Stair-step cracking had also appeared on the brick exterior, and a visible fracture was seen in the exposed footing. The home, which sits near the base of the Mississippi River levee, had experienced flooding in the past, likely contributing to the soil erosion and slab movement.
Upon inspection, we identified major settlement along both the northeast and northwest corners of the house. To permanently stabilize the foundation, we recommended installing a total of 11 push piers—five on the NE corner and six on the NW corner. We also determined that four areas of concrete would need to be removed and restored along the west side where the driveway meets the home. Additionally, the slab beneath the house, particularly where the main crack had formed, required PolyLevel® foam injection to fill voids and lift settled sections. The PolyLevel would also serve as a backfill material around the installed piers for enhanced stability. We discussed the plan in full with Kaitlyn, including the need to drill through some of the living room tile during the PolyLevel installation.
With the push piers firmly anchored into load-bearing strata and PolyLevel restoring slab integrity, Donald and Kaitlyn’s home is now structurally sound and ready for the remodeling work ahead. This comprehensive foundation repair addressed both current issues and helped prevent future movement, ensuring a safer and more valuable home for years to come.
