Crawlspace Waterproofing and TripleSafe Sump Pump Installation Completed Successfully
Crawlspace Waterproofing and TripleSafe Sump Pump Installation Completed Successfully
Our team completed a crawlspace waterproofing and drainage system installation that included Turtle access installation, TripleSafe sump pump placement, interior drainage pipe (IDP) installation, and crawlspace water removal. Despite multiple underground obstacles and limited crawlspace access due to ductwork, we successfully adjusted the installation plan and completed the system with minimal disruption.
Initial Crawlspace Inspection and Gas Line Obstacle
We began the project by explaining the interior drainage pipe (IDP) system and crawlspace encapsulation process to the homeowner. During the initial inspection and layout process, we discovered an active gas line on the right side of the house in the planned Turtle installation area. Because the gas line needed to be relocated before excavation could safely begin, we temporarily shifted operations to the secondary Turtle location at the rear of the home.
Excavation Challenges: Irrigation Pipes and Old Septic Line
While excavating at the rear Turtle location, we encountered two irrigation lines along with an abandoned cast iron septic line. Although the septic line was no longer active, these underground obstructions created complications for the drainage system layout and excavation path.
At that point, the gas company had completed relocation of the gas line at the original installation area on the side of the house. We then pivoted back to the primary location and resumed excavation operations there.
Turtle Crawlspace Access Installation
Once excavation resumed at the original Turtle location, no additional underground obstacles were encountered. Our crew was able to fully excavate the area and complete the Turtle crawlspace access installation successfully.
This access point will allow improved entry into the crawlspace for future maintenance, waterproofing service, and drainage system accessibility.
TripleSafe Sump Pump Installation and Crawlspace Water Removal
After access installation was completed, we removed a significant amount of standing water from the crawlspace. We then installed the TripleSafe sump pump system directly in front of the Turtle entrance because that area represented the lowest point within the crawlspace.
The TripleSafe system was fully plumbed and discharged safely outside the flower bed to direct groundwater away from the foundation and crawlspace area.
Interior Drainage Pipe (IDP) Installation Around Crawlspace Ductwork
Our crew successfully installed approximately 90 feet of interior drainage pipe throughout the crawlspace wherever ductwork allowed access. The existing HVAC duct system created extremely tight working conditions that limited movement beneath portions of the home.
We attempted to install an additional small sump system on the opposite side of the crawlspace, but the confined ductwork spacing made installation physically impossible. Because of these limitations, the second Turtle access location will remain necessary to provide future access to that section of the crawlspace.
Crawlspace Drainage and Waterproofing Outcome
The completed crawlspace waterproofing system now includes:
Turtle crawlspace access installation
TripleSafe sump pump system
Crawlspace water extraction
Approximately 90 feet of interior drainage pipe (IDP)
Exterior discharge line installation
Improved crawlspace accessibility for future service
Despite underground utility conflicts, irrigation lines, abandoned septic infrastructure, and restrictive ductwork conditions, the drainage and waterproofing system was successfully installed and is now positioned to better manage groundwater intrusion and crawlspace moisture issues.
