Crawl Space Repair in Memphis: Stabilizing a Historic Home with SmartJack Foundation Support
Crawl Space Foundation Problems in a Historic Memphis Home In an 1890-built home in Memphis, the owner noticed sagging, spongey floors and widening gaps between the baseboards and hardwood flooring—signs of serious structural issues requiring professional crawl space repair. Beneath the house, several piers had collapsed over time, allowing the floors to dip and the walls to crack, especially around the dining room and kitchen. The crawl space—tight and filled with old ductwork—made repairs challenging, but the damage needed attention to protect the home’s integrity and preserve its historic charm. SmartJack Installation for Reliable Crawl Space Stabilization To permanently reinforce the structure, our team installed a system of SmartJack crawl space supports, designed to restore strength to aging foundations. In the dining room, we installed three SmartJacks and 15 feet of steel I-beam; in the living room, four SmartJacks and 20 feet of I-beam provided additional stabilization. SmartJacks are part of Redeemers Group’s trusted foundation repair solutions, built to address settlement and structural concerns in homes of all ages. Each galvanized steel column can support over 60,000 pounds, providing lasting strength and stability. While full leveling wasn’t possible due to the home’s hardwood construction and age, the installation successfully stabilized the foundation and delivered noticeable lift. Why Crawl Space Stabilization Protects Your Home’s Legacy This project demonstrates the importance of professional floor stabilization in older homes. By reinforcing the foundation with SmartJacks, the homeowner resolved sagging floors, restored balance, and safeguarded more than 50 years of family memories in his beloved home. For this Memphis homeowner, the project was about more than structure—it was about preserving legacy and peace of mind for years to come. If you’ve noticed sagging floors, cracks near your baseboards, or soft spots in your crawl space, don’t wait for the problem to worsen. Crawl Space Wood Rot & Mold Remediation in Byhalia, MS
Frances G. of Byhalia, MS was in search of peace of mind after discovering a troubling sag in her dining room floor. Upon inspection, it became clear that the structural integrity of her home had been compromised by significant wood rot in the joists and subfloor beneath the dining room. With quotes already in hand from competitors and another on the way, Frances wanted to ensure she explored all her options before moving forward with a critical repair. Our team identified that the existing floor joists and subflooring were beyond salvage due to severe moisture damage and fungal growth. We proposed a comprehensive solution: removing and replacing the affected joists and subfloor using appropriately sized 2x8 joists in 8-foot and 6-foot spans, supported by a central beam spanning the 14-foot area. To address the underlying moisture issues, we also recommended a full crawl space encapsulation system. This would not only prevent future wood rot but also mitigate mold growth and improve overall air quality inside the home. After reviewing the plan with her son and comparing her options, Frances entrusted us with the project. We relocated the sump pump to her preferred spot near the crawlspace door, ensuring functionality and homeowner satisfaction. Thanks to our expert repair and moisture control solution, Frances now enjoys a safer, healthier home environment. Expert Structural Stabilization for Shed and Manufactured Home in Byhalia, MS
Identifying Structural Concerns and Unlevel Conditions This project began when the homeowner in Byhalia, MS noticed his backyard shed/workshop had become unlevel while resting on concrete blocks. Although his manufactured home also had areas supported by block skirting and piers, the shed remained his main concern. During inspection, our expert identified that portions of the home showed minor sagging, though symptoms were minimal. The customer wanted a full evaluation to ensure long-term safety, especially because the home spans more than 2,000 square feet. Site-specific details—including the absence of LumberKote on most structural wood—helped guide the repair plan. Delivering a Customized Foundation Support Solution To restore stability to the shed, our team installed three new support jacks, adding a concrete cap over engineered fill per the homeowner's request. Because this customization fell outside standard specifications, the shed jacks were not eligible for warranty coverage, but they provided the immediate reinforcement needed. For the manufactured home, we installed 10 additional support jacks along the main beam inside the crawl space. The installation process was straightforward and efficient, designed to quickly address existing settlement and prevent future issues. Protecting Structural Integrity with Proven Methods Beyond installing new supports, our specialists applied LumberKote to critical wood components of the home to strengthen and protect the structure against moisture-related deterioration. While the porch deck and most trailer framing had no previous LumberKote protection, applying it to the main beam provided valuable long-term resilience. By combining targeted jack placement with wood preservation techniques, we ensured both the shed and the home achieved improved stability, leaving the customer pleased with the results. Sink Concrete Slab Lifted Back into Position, Saving a House in Dyersburg, TN
This customers pre-fabricated home was placed over a tough concrete slab. Unfortunately, over the years, while the slab did not crack, it did begin to shift and sink into the ground. This caused the slab to pull several inches away from the base of the prefabricated home's walls! How scary! This customer called a local concrete and foundation repair company for help. Redeemers Group sent a System Design Specialist to diagnose the problem and prescribe a cure. In this case, water had gotten under the concrete slab foundation and created voids and an unstable ground where the weight of the home was causing the slab to sink. Luckily, the concrete repair specialist had just the solution. We injected PolyLevel, an expandable wonder-foam that would fill the voids, left the slabs back into place AND bear the weight of the home. This is so important, because any old foam couldn't do the job. PolyLevel foam is special, and is created just for this purpose, so the customer would be on solid ground for as long, or longer, than the concrete slab actually lasted.
Shed Foundation Repair Using PolyLevelâ„¢ in Dyersburg, TN
Christopher N. of Dyersburg, TN contacted us about a sinking concrete slab beneath his backyard shed. The foundation had begun to settle unevenly due to long-term soil erosion and animal burrowing beneath the structure. Over time, this compromised the stability of the shed and posed safety concerns. Having lived in the home for seven years—a place that once belonged to his late brother—Christopher wanted to protect the property and restore the shed’s foundation before the damage worsened. After assessing the site, we determined that PolyLevel™, a high-performance polyurethane foam, was the best solution for lifting and stabilizing the settled slab. We discussed the possibility of temporary damming around the shed's perimeter to contain the foam during injection. Knowing Christopher was in up in age, we offered to assist with rolling out his four-wheeler and motorcycle from the shed, while he cleared the remaining contents before our team arrived. The PolyLevel™ application was a success—raising the slab, closing gaps, and reinforcing the shed’s foundation without the mess of traditional concrete replacement. Christopher can now enjoy peace of mind knowing his shed is back on solid ground. If you’re experiencing similar foundation issues in Dyersburg or the surrounding area, contact us today to schedule a free inspection and learn how PolyLevel™ can restore your concrete slab quickly and effectively.
